I explained due to my religion and culture I don't wear bathing suit. They were so rude to me in front of the whole class. I had tears in my eye. And I walked out.
They mistreated me.

Awful place, very dirty, you can find hair even in the swimming pool! They allow to swim without hair cap. Also they have problems with life guards shifts so a few times I was not able to use pool at all! Ridiculous! I just got in and they asked me to get out! Also you can’t leave your children in kids club to be sure they are fine, LA Fitness stuff spends time texting right in front of you, they are totally neglectful!
Worse gym ever. I signed up went in for the first time to try out their aqua aerobics class. I wore capris n t-shirt that's was water resistant. And They didn't let me in the pool.
I love this gym, it’s clean and has lots of machines and you never have to wait. The classes are great too. I do the spin classes. The bikes are up dated and they have about 35 bikes in a class. It use to be a problem in the beginning as all the classes were packed and everyone was fighting for bikes. Now the system is pretty good, you need to sign up on their app for the classes. A Few of the Instructors are very good and some are not good and to top it off nasty. Young lady Instructor fairly new, dark hair- I was going into spin class and she must of been just finishing the class before, I put my bag on a bike which no one was using and all of a sudden she turns around the instructor and says “ excuse me that’s my bike” really? Because I don’t see your name on it!!!!!!
When I called to cancel my membership they said sure. Then I also asked for the sign up fee to be reimbursed as I never even used the gym even once. And I was kicked out the class. They denied to reimburse me. And then I had to deal with their corporate.
Also during registration they will charge you for a few months, and they will never tell you that it’s pretty hard to cancel subscription! You need to inform them about cancelation 5 days upfront and then you need to come to the facility and then you need to send them a letter! Omg, I’m sooo angry on myself for the decision to sign up with that hell!!!
LAfitness is not a culturally sensitive company. I amexplained so shocked that such a large company fails to meet the needs of their diverse customers.
Talking to the manager didn't help. And I had to cry for her to realize how serious this situation actually is.
Good friendly atmosphere, clean and well kept. Best gym on staten island.
